The Electric Tbus Group was formed in May 2000 by a number of concerned individuals to promote the re-introduction electric trolley vehicles in the capital of the United Kingdom as a way of bring about a quieter, cleaner, more environmentally benign way of traveling within the metropolis. - Eur Ing Irvine Bell BSc CEng MIMechE CDipAF PGCE 55 year old Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 25 years experience in the bus manufacturing and operating industries. Now teaching Information Technology and Design Technology in a 1,800 pupil Technology College. Also work at the world's longest double-deck trolleybus route in Dudley, UK. - Kevin Brown, BA, MA Academic Advisor, Faculty of Science, University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. 37 years old. Public transit and electric traction advocate for 23 years. Local transit historian, author of "Swift, Strong, Silent - 60 Years of Electric Trolleybus Service in Edmonton" (1999) and co-author of "Queen City Trolleys - The Story of Regina's Trolleybuses" (in progress). Member of the Edmonton Transit System Advisory Board. - David Bradley Employed by Balfour Beatty [1956-1960] and BICC [1960-1963] before joining Central Electricty Generating Board, working on the design and construction of overhead lines, from 11kV to 400kV. In 1985 switched to System Administration for NGCs Unix CAD network. Currently with Netproject working on the infrastructure that enables secure, global, mobile computing by the running of conferences and master classes. - Ashley Bruce MaRCA. DipAD 30 years in broadcast television production, specialising for the last 15 in environmental documentaries for Channel 4, Central TV, Discovery Channel and BBC World. Currently producing for 'Earth Report' and 'Life' with funding from UNEP, EU and WWF etc. through Television Trust for the Environment and ITN Factual. Webmaster of this site. - Malcolm Crofts Previously a metallurgist and welding engineer in the petrochemical industry, constantly flying to crisis meetings in the most inhospitable parts of the world. Now run Reflectalite, a lighting and electrical business, particularly for bicycles. Using any one of 3 bicycles to get about, because of the congestion of the roads and sub-standard public transport, led to active campaigning for improvements, particuarly in West London. - Peter Golds A Public Affairs consultant specialising in Local Government, the environment and transport. Served as a local councillor in London for eight years, five years as chair of local Environment and Planning Committee. A member of the London Boroughs Association, Association of London Government (Vice Chairman of the Environemnt Committee 1995-6) and the Local Government Association. Have an ongoing and very detailed interest and knowledge of London Government and also environmentally friendly transport systems. - Gordon Mackley Spent 25 years in the main line rail industry. Becoming a local Area Operations Manager in charge of signalling and all other operational aspects of running the railway together with the usual associated man management and administrative tasks. From 1986, worked in Operation Performance at Headquartes offices, responsible for the real time Control office of the South Eastern and also the Performance Management aspects of this part of the railway. Joined a small IT company, Nexus Alpha, which produces message and information systems for transport organisations across the UK. Have a mathematics background, including both traffic flow and statistics. - Chris Veasey BSc DipTransP MCIT MILT MIHT Transport and Traffic Engineer and Planner for 27 years in Local Authorities and Consultancy, mostly in London and surrounding area, including bus priority schemes and other public transport planning and improvement. Certified to run bus, coach and road haulage operations. Currently Director of consultancy firm Transport and Traffic Consultancy, and Operations Director designate for embryonic London bus company Eros Travel. Regular traveller on Hull trolleybus network 1950-64. - Martin Wright Having signed the Official Secrets Act, can be described as a "concerned transport environmentalist". Willing member of any future delegation to say, the DETR, TfL etc. as a private individual. - Dave Wiltshire 52 years old, having started work at 14 as an apprentice in an electrical switchgear factory learning to use lathes, capstans, presses, etc. After a stint as a storeman for a B.M.C.dealer and several years as a retail motor workshop manager, now a courier, serving all the U.K. Also part-time with Margo's coaches delivering and collecting many different and variously maintained public service vehicles. |
